In my last post i showed you how to get your Business Listed in Google Local Listings. Today, I’ll show you how to get listed in yahoo local listings.

Yahoo Local Listing are a great way to get targeted traffic to your site or qualified leads from people interested in your product or service.

Unlike yahoo adwords,  yahoo business local listings can be free or a flat monthly fee.

I’ll show you in 3 easy steps how to get your business listed in yahoo local listings.

.

STEP 1 : Provide Your Business Details

Visit Yahoo Local Listings (US)  or Yahoo Local Listing ( Canada) and log in using your yahoo username and password.  Once logged in you’ll enter your name, business address, telephone, website URL ( if you have one ) hours of operation.  For those working as consultants from home, you get to decide if you want your business address listed or just your telephone and email and website.

STEP 2: Choose Your Categories

Only choose relevant categories for your business listings.  If you’re an SEO Firm then you may consider a category like Internet Marketing.  You’ll choose your main category and then choose the appropriate sub category. You may choose multiple categories for your listing.

STEP 3: Review your Listing and Confirm

Once you have added your details then you can review how your listing will be displayed and submit your request for a free basic listing or choose an upgraded ad for a flat monthly fee.

You have 3  options

1) Basic Listing for free

2) Enhanced Listing for $9.95/month that allows you to add a logo, links to coupons

3) Featured Listing for approx $25/month for top placement.

  2. Mark Mark says:

I need your help. I went to yahoo to find my business listing already registered by my competitor. What do i do ?

  3. Ramit Ramit says:

    mark,

This is exactly the reason why i tell everyone to register their listings. Right now your competitor is getting your traffic.

But let me back track here and ask you. Are you sure they have “claimed” your listing, or just edited it with their info.
Check your email for details on how to proceed.

Great guide ! You could also add details on how to do bulk submissions. Very helpful for business that have multiple locations.

  5. Ramit Ramit says:

@Anoop : Thanks for mentioning that.

  6. Mike Mike says:

How much traffic can i expect to receive from yahoo local listings ?

  7. Ramit Ramit says:

    Mike,

This is a ques that gets asked a lot. The amount of traffic you’ll get varies on the exact search a consumer searches for. Any amount of traffic you get is worth it, after all you got a free local listing that didn’t cost you anything.

  8. Dan Dan says:

I have 10 branches for my business. Can i add them all ? I heard we can add coupons as well. Is it true ?

  9. Ramit Ramit says:

@Dan : Yes you may add all 10 locations. Infact adding all of them will get you more exposure and thus hopefully more sales.

  10. Phil Gear Phil Gear says:

I think it’s kind of interesting that yahoo charges for an “enhanced” listing. Google lets you add all that (coupon, logo, & even video) for free. Maybe it should be the other way around where google should charge, seeing as how they get about 65% of searches.

  11. Mukesh Mukesh says:

Isn’t it true that Yahoo local listing is only for US businesses?

  12. Ramit Ramit says:

@ Mukesh: No, Yahoo Local Listings are available in India as well. Check out in.local.yahoo.com . Its Bing thats limited to US for the moment.

  13. Mukesh Mukesh says:

Great. Thanks, that was very useful. I always used to go to local.yahoo.com which used to always ask me choose amongst US states for my business. Probably because I have @yahoo.com id and not @yahoo.in id.

Maybe you could add that bit in your post.
