3 Steps To Get Your Business Listed in Yahoo Local Listings

In my last post i showed you how to get your Business Listed in Google Local Listings. Today, I’ll show you how to get listed in yahoo local listings.

Yahoo Local Listing are a great way to get targeted traffic to your site or qualified leads from people interested in your product or service.

Unlike yahoo adwords,  yahoo business local listings can be free or a flat monthly fee.

I’ll show you in 3 easy steps how to get your business listed in yahoo local listings.

STEP 1 : Provide Your Business Details

Visit Yahoo Local Listings (US)  or Yahoo Local Listing ( Canada) and log in using your yahoo username and password.  Once logged in you’ll enter your name, business address, telephone, website URL ( if you have one ) hours of operation.  For those working as consultants from home, you get to decide if you want your business address listed or just your telephone and email and website.

STEP 2: Choose Your Categories

Only choose relevant categories for your business listings.  If you’re an SEO Firm then you may consider a category like Internet Marketing.  You’ll choose your main category and then choose the appropriate sub category. You may choose multiple categories for your listing.

STEP 3: Review your Listing and Confirm

Once you have added your details then you can review how your listing will be displayed and submit your request for a free basic listing or choose an upgraded ad for a flat monthly fee.

You have 3  options

1) Basic Listing for free

2) Enhanced Listing for $9.95/month that allows you to add a logo, links to coupons

3) Featured Listing for approx $25/month for top placement.

10 Step Guide on how to get Higher Rankings in Search Engines for your site

I get asked by clients all the time if i have a Guide or …

  1. Using your step by step guide i was able to get my business listed in under 10 minutes !

    Thanks for the help Ramit

  2. I need your help. I went to yahoo to find my business listing already registered by my competitor. What do i do ?

  3. mark,

This is exactly the reason why i tell everyone to register their listings. Right now your competitor is getting your traffic.

But let me back track here and ask you. Are you sure they have “claimed” your listing, or just edited it with their info.
Check your email for details on how to proceed.

  4. Great guide ! You could also add details on how to do bulk submissions. Very helpful for business that have multiple locations.

  5. @Anoop : Thanks for mentioning that.

  6. How much traffic can i expect to receive from yahoo local listings ?

  7. Mike,

This is a ques that gets asked a lot. The amount of traffic you’ll get varies on the exact search a consumer searches for. Any amount of traffic you get is worth it, after all you got a free local listing that didn’t cost you anything.

  8. I have 10 branches for my business. Can i add them all ? I heard we can add coupons as well. Is it true ?

  9. @Dan : Yes you may add all 10 locations. Infact adding all of them will get you more exposure and thus hopefully more sales.

  10. I think it’s kind of interesting that yahoo charges for an “enhanced” listing. Google lets you add all that (coupon, logo, & even video) for free. Maybe it should be the other way around where google should charge, seeing as how they get about 65% of searches.

  11. Isn’t it true that Yahoo local listing is only for US businesses?

  12. @ Mukesh: No, Yahoo Local Listings are available in India as well. Check out in.local.yahoo.com . Its Bing thats limited to US for the moment.

  13. Great. Thanks, that was very useful. I always used to go to local.yahoo.com which used to always ask me choose amongst US states for my business. Probably because I have @yahoo.com id and not @yahoo.in id.

Maybe you could add that bit in your post.

  14. I am really enjoying reading your well written articles. It looks like you spend a lot of effort and time on your blog. I have bookmarked it and I am looking forward to reading new articles. Keep up the good work!

  15. can you local listing in canada on yahoo and bing

  16. @Norma Do you need assistance in getting your site listed in local listings ? If so do contact us via email with your details.

  17. Is there ways to get my sites submitted locally in Thailand even if they are straight .com sites? What would be the best way to do so. I search Yahoo with no results. It only shows USA and UK from what I’ve found.

I’ve gotten list in Google on the first page under many terms/ phrases with Bangkok added to it. However, while the search terms themselves are high traffic terms…they are not high traffic terms with Bangkok added.

This is a good topic and one which I need a bit of understanding of. Any resources that refer to this would be appreciated greatly.

    Kind Regards

  18. How do list your business locally in Thailand on yahoo?

  19. I am very thankful to this topic because it really gives great information

  20. I’m from Canada and I don’t see any option to create my listing with local.yahoo.ca

  21. Thx for this link you provided at the Hubspot webinar today. However, FYI, once again I tried to add my listing of my business in Yahoo Local Listings (Canada) as you provided above but it takes me directly to Yahoo.com NOT Yahoo.ca and when I try to put in the city, province & postal code it does not give me that option. I can only choose cities and states in US. Wonder if they are ever going to offer Yahoo local listings in Canada – up to now you have to have a Yellow Pages Business Listing to be listed.

  22. @Diane Sorry but yahoo recently updated things and no longer allows new listings via that link. You can try entering using here They are using this db for listings now
